About Me

The goal of this blog is to provide practical information about fitness, nutrition, and wellness. There is an overwhelming amount of information about exercise and dieting, and many people tend to overcomplicate what it takes to get in shape and lose weight. Don’t wait for the perfect time to be on a “program” or “diet” with lots of rules, calculations and formulas – make smart choices each and every day to eat healthy and move more. A healthy lifestyle develops from smart decisions that become habits over time. So start now!

“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.” ~ Jim Rohn

I have had a passion for fitness and wellness since high school. I believe in a holistic view of wellness and creating a healthy, balanced lifestyle through proper nutrition and incorporating a variety of exercise types. Some of my favorites are group fitness classes like Zumba and TurboKick, running, strength training, and yoga. I love taking advantage of all the fun things to do in Austin, TX. I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

As an undergraduate, I participated in a group fitness instructor training course and also became a personal trainer. I went on to pursue a Fitness & Wellness Graduate Assistantship, graduating with a Masters in Nutrition and Exercise Science in 2008. I have been fortunate to work in campus recreation, commercial gyms, and corporate wellness which has allowed me to work with a variety of different clients.

I would love to connect with you on Twitter or Facebook. You can also find out more about exercise and diet products I recommend at http://www.beachbodycoach.com/shodges83
